I love this photo!

The nice thing about family medicine residencies is that since you are a MS from a US med school, you already are a good candidate. I started my personal statement with a story about an interaction I had on a missions trip that helped crystallize my desire to do family. I'd definitely say let your personality show through. I don't think it needs to be super formal. Most of the programs I interviewed with are very much about creating a family sort of atmosphere, and your personal statement is the first way they are going to get to know you. I'd be happy to proof read once you get it written, if that would be helpful. There are tons of great programs out there in the NW, although we would have loved to see you come to SC. :) But I definitely understand the desire to be near family. Anyway...that's my advice - if you have other questions, let me know.
